Bromley’s primary education is achieving some of the best results in the country

Published Tuesday, 6 September 2016

Latest results for Key Stage Two (KS2) tests at the expected standard or above indicate that Bromley children have achieved extremely good results.

In comparison with the rest of the country, Bromley came second in the reading and maths tests, and third in combined reading, writing and mathematics with a score only one per cent behind the two councils in joint first position. Bromley children also performed well in grammar and writing, coming joint fourth and joint sixth respectively.

Those reaching a high standard in the KS2 tests or greater depth in writing also did well meaning that, at this level, the combined test, the reading test and the grammar test results all reached fifth in the country and for mathematics in this section, Bromley children were seventh.

Executive Member for Education Councillor Peter Fortune said: “These are really pleasing results which demonstrate the good educational standards being achieved by children in Bromley. I should like to commend our local teaching staff for their commitment to aiming high and to congratulate all the pupils who have clearly worked hard this year to perform so well in these key tests.
