Chairman of first outstanding Safeguarding Children Board brings expertise to Bromley

Bromley Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Gamble QPM as the new Independent Chairman of Bromley’s Safeguarding Children Board
Jim was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for distinguished service in a former role and is currently independent chair of the City and Hackney Safeguarding Children Board, which, under Jim’s leadership, is the first and only Local Safeguarding Children Board to be judged outstanding by Ofsted.
Jim’s primary focus has been to develop effective multi-sector partnerships that make people safer through integrating traditional best practice with cutting edge technology. Additionally, he is a highly regarded public, conference and after dinner speaker and delivers motivational leadership and specialist subject matter speeches around the world. He is a frequent media commentator on issues related to protective services, best practice, internet safety and child protection.
Executive Member for Care Services Cllr Robert Evans said: “We need the right people in place to help us on our journey to excellence and I am delighted that Jim Gamble will be bringing his impressive experience in the field to Bromley by heading Bromley’s Safeguarding Children Board. Jim will use his energy, inspirational leadership and independent challenge to strengthen safeguarding practices and processes across the borough.”
Cllr Evans added: “I want to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing chairman, Annie Callanan, for her work and commitment to Bromley over the past few years. Annie’s leadership enabled the Board to make a number of improvements and put a greater focus on safeguarding priorities, establishing good foundations for progress into the future.”
Bromley Safeguarding Children Board is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of what the member organisations do both individually and together to protect children and young people in Bromley.
Jim will take up his role as Independent Chairman of the Board from 16 January 2017.
