Shire Lane and Polesteeple Hill Emergency road closures following burst water mains
Published Friday, 9 June 2017
Shire Lane and Polesteeple Hill closed due to burst water main.
Shire Lane is currently closed to traffic following a burst water main. Thames Water will be making repairs to both the road and to the burst water main. It is envisaged that the road will not re-open until at least Monday, with precise details to be confirmed.
To help with traffic management locally, UK Power Networks have temporarily suspended their work so that Luxted Road is re-open to traffic following an earlier closure to allow electrical work to go-ahead. UK Power Networks will then complete their work once Shire Lane is re-open.
A diversion is in place and motorists are advised to use the following roads as part of the diversionary route - use Farnborough Hill, Farnborough Common, Croydon Road, Westerham Road and Downe Road
Polesteeple Hill is closed at the junction with Mount Pleasant because of a burst water main. Thames Water have made repairs to restore the water supply locally and the road remains closed as the road will now need to be repaired. It is envisaged that the road will not re-open until at least Monday, with precise details to be confirmed.
Road signs, including access only signs are being put at junction of Polesteeple Hill and Stock Hill. The diversion is from Stock Hill, left into Sunningvale Avenue then left into Polesteeple Hill - this will be sending traffic the ‘wrong way’ up Polesteeple Hill until the work is completed.
