Emergency water and gas works in Crystal Palace Park Road and Hayes Lane

Published Friday, 15 December 2017

Water and gas leaks close Crystal Palace Park Road southbound towards Penge, with SGN also working on emergency gas repairs elsewhere in the borough, in Hayes Lane, Hayes.

The discovery of a water leak, in addition to the emergency gas work, has meant that Crystal Palace Park Road is now closed at the junction of Westwood Hill to southbound traffic travelling towards Penge High Street. Traffic travelling towards Westwood Hill on Crystal Palace Road remains unaffected.

The diversion in place is via Westwood Hill and Lawrie Park Road. Buses are also using this diversion but therefore buses will not be serving any bus stops in between Westwood Hill and Lawrie Park Road.

Both SGN and Thames Water are at the scene, to make appropriate repairs to their gas and water pipes, with the escaping water making the gas repair work more difficult.

The estimated duration of this work is likely to continue into the middle of next week and this information will be updated when known.

In Hayes Lane, Hayes, SGN are working to fix a gas leak between the junctions of Hayes Road and Letchworth Drive.  The exact duration of this repair work is not known but work is likely to be ongoing until next week, with a further update expected when repair work gets fully underway.
