Emergency streetworks across the borough

Emergency repairs affecting Elmstead Lane Chislehurst, Main Road Biggin Hill and Homesdale Road Bromley.
Elmstead Lane closed one way for gas repair work
SGN are closing Elmstead Lane, Chislehurst in one direction, affecting traffic travelling towards Bromley. The actual closure is near to the railway bridge, near the junction with Sundridge Avenue, at the mini roundabout.
Whilst these works are in place, southbound traffic is being diverted further back on Elmstead Lane via Walden Road, Yester Road and Sundridge Avenue. Northbound traffic wanting to enter Elmstead Lane from Logs Hill or Sundridge Avenue (towards Mottingham) will be unaffected during the works. The width restriction posts will be temporary removed from Sundridge Avenue whilst the diversion is in place to allow the 314 bus route to follow the diversion.
This closure will remove the need for the temporary four way lights on the roundabout with Sundridge Avenue/Elmstead Lane/Logs Hill that have been in situ at this location in the last few days.
It is not known how long this gas repair work will take, with information published when known.
Main Road, Biggin Hill, Thames Water repair work underway
A burst water main in Main Road, Biggin Hill, between the junctions of Salt Box Hill and Sunningvale Avenue, mean that emergency repair work is underway. Temporary traffic lights are being used as Thames Water make repairs, with repair work envisaged to take a number of days to complete and exact timescales not yet known.
Homesdale Road remains closed for emergency gas repair work
SGN have closed Homesdale Road, Bromley, to through traffic to undertake essential repairs
The road closure is required due to the gas main being in the centre of the carriageway and traffic not having enough space to pass the work area safely.
Whilst the road is closed traffic will be diverted via the two following diversions:
- Masons Hill A21, Kentish Way A21, Widmore Road A222, Bickley Road A222, Page Heath Lane (in both directions)
- Bromley Common A21, Crown Lane Spur, Crown Lane, Southborough Lane, Blackbrook Lane, Bickley Park Road A222, Page Heath Lane (in both directions)
Access to the Reuse and Recycling centre in Waldo Road and the Tesco store will be available via the A21 Bromley Common/Masons Hill side of Homesdale Road only.
Repair work has started on a second gas leak and it is not yet known how long this latest repair will take but this repair work is envisaged to continue into next week.
