SGN are carrying out essential gas main repair work at Southborough Road and Leesons Hill

SGN - work update at Southborough Road

Traffic will once again be able to use the mini roundabout junction at Southborough Road, Oldfield Road and Southlands Road, from Wednesday afternoon, with the SGN work to replace the gas mains at this location ahead of schedule.

The SGN work will continue once the roads are open, with work continuing in both Oldfield Road and Southlands Road, with this continuing until the beginning of next week

Then, from Tuesday 17 April, it is anticipated that temporary lights will be in use on Southborough Road, between the mini roundabout (that has just been closed) and Laurel Gardens.

Bus routes 336 and R7 will both run back to their usual lines of route tomorrow once the roads are all re-opened.  Temporary lights are expected to be in place for up to 10 weeks as gas main replacement work continues along Southborough Road, with information available from the SGN website.

Further information is available from the SGN website.

The initial phase, taking place in the school holidays, thereby reducing traffic disruption, will begin at the mini roundabout junction of Southborough Road, Oldfield Road and Southlands Road.  All 3 roads will be closed at the junction only, to through traffic, for the duration of the Easter Holidays, until Sunday 15 April.

Whilst the closure is in place, traffic for Southborough Road will be diverted via Southborough Lane, Blackbrook Lane and Bickley Park Road A222 in both directions. There will also be local diversions in place for both Southlands Road and Oldfield Road too.

Bus routes 336 and R7 will both be affected by the closures.

Route 336 will not serve Southborough Road between Southlands Grove and Southborough Lane and will be diverted via Hawthorne Road, Blackbrook Lane and Southborough Lane in both directions.

Route R7 will not serve Oldfield Road, Southborough Road or Hawthorne Road, it will be diverted along Blackbrook Lane and will then continue with its usual line of route via Barfield Road in both directions.

Once this phase of works has been completed and the roads are re-opened to traffic, SGN will continue to work along Southborough Road towards Waldegrave Road under temporary signals.  SGN have agreed to manually operate the signals during peak times to minimise delays. The temporary lights are expected to be in place for up to 10 weeks.

SGN repair work underway in Leesons Hill, St Pauls Cray, which is closed to traffic following a gas leak.

Leesons Hill is closed between the junctions of Marlings Park Avenue and Highfield Road, with repair work underway. The road is expected to remain closed until the end of the week, with traffic being diverted via St Pauls Wood Hill, Midfield Way and Chipperfield Road in both directions.
