Expect the unexpected with Bromley’s Street Theatre Festival

Magicians, living statues, musicians and many more surprise acts are coming to Bromley town centre next weekend with the Street Theatre Festival.

Following last year's successful staging of the event, the festival returns to the High Street on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September.  Look out for the extravaganza of performances to capture the imagination.

"We have a rich history of theatre and creativity in the borough, with two theatres in Bromley town centre alone.  Street Theatre brings a new dimension and presents a fantastic opportunity to head into the town centre, watch the performances and be entertained while you shop.  There is set to be a real buzz in the High Street so why not come along and make sure you don't miss out on this special event" said Councillor Peter Morgan, Executive Councillor for Renewal and Recreation.

Bromley High Street will play host to the Festival, with new and exciting professional entertainers to captivate visitors to the town centre.  Watch out for punters drifting down the street to regale and serenade shoppers in a quintessentially English way.  Woody the one man band will be on hand to entertain and caricaturists will be available to give event-goers a piece of the day to take home.  There will also be plenty of other unique performances throughout the weekend.

The Demon Barbers, winners of Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2009, will give a performance of their street and folk dance moves on Saturday afternoon. There will be a full performance of their award winning act, Time Gentlemen Please, at the Churchill Theatre on Sunday 11 September.  For tickets go to the Churchill Theatre, High Street, Bromley or visit http://www.atgtickets.com/
