Bromley North Village Spring Celebrations
Published Friday, 13 March 2015
A revitalised Bromley North Village will celebrate the start of Spring with a special event next Saturday.
The event on Saturday 21 March will take place in Market Square, East Street and the High Street and showcase the improvements to the Village area including brand new granite paving, lamp columns, trees and new street furniture. Activities on the day include a spring-themed animal show, an Easter egg trail throughout local businesses, balloon modelling, live entertainment, special offers from local shops and much more.
“The extensive public realm improvements to Bromley North Village underline our commitment to improving the town centre and ensuring people continue to shop, trade and spend time in Bromley North. We are delighted to see fewer vacant shop units and increased footfall already in the new look area. Why not come along to the special Spring event, enjoy the activities and special offers, while seeing the improvement for yourself” said Councillor Peter Morgan, Executive Councillor for Renewal and Recreation.
Local businesses are offering special discounts and promotional vouchers on the day alongside food tasting opportunities in Market Square. Bromley Civic Society is also running heritage walks in the town, meeting outside Central Library at 11:30am, 2pm and 3pm, taking participants around the town centre to showcase its historic past.
The £5.5million Bromley North Village public realm improvements were completed in November 2014 and have improved the historic areas of Market Square, High Street and East Street, building on other long term developments in the town. This has improved trade opportunities for the businesses in the area and attracted new independent businesses and independent retailers. The scheme was funded in partnership with the Council, Transport for London (TfL) and The Mayor’s Outer London Fund (OLF).
