Health Scrutiny Terms of Reference
Under the Social Care Act 2001 local authorities now have the power to examine the ways in which local health services are planned and provided.
In consultation with NHS agencies, the Council's Social Care Health and Housing Committee has approved Terms of Reference for Health Scrutiny which provide a structure for assessing how this work will be carried out.
The aim of health scrutiny is for the Council to work with NHS bodies, the voluntary and private sectors to examine particular issues where real improvements can be made to improve the health and well-being of Bromley's residents. Health scrutiny is not intended to duplicate existing inspection arrangements or to pursue individual complaints.
