Independent Living Centre - Lewis House
An occupational therapist is based at Lewis House Independent Living Centre in Beckenham (contact details below) to provide advice and assistance for people of all ages. The Occupational Therapy Service helps people who have physical disabilities to be as independent and safe as possible within their own homes by providing advice and/or adaptations to their property.
Who could benefit from/use this service?
Anyone experiencing difficulties with everyday activities can seek advice at the centre. Assessments are offered to all permanent residents of the London Borough of Bromley and provisions may be given to those who meet the social services eligibility criteria in accordance to the Fair Access to Services Framework (FACS). Details
An assessment of your ability to carry out everyday tasks will be undertaken at the centre and advice given on how to obtain equipment and adaptations to help support you.
If you meet the social services eligibility criteria and your difficulties cannot be overcome by the use of equipment or minor adaptations, a referral for further assessment will be forwarded to the Occupational Therapy Service Planned Intervention Team.
Costs
There is no charge for advice and assessment at the centre.
If you do not meet the social services eligibility criteria but would like to obtain equipment recommended to you or to your home, you will need to pay for this yourself.
If you do meet the social services eligibility criteria some equipment and minor adaption's may be provided to you on long-term loan, free of charge.
