Support for adults with learning disabilities and their family carers
Bromley Council's Adults and Community Services Department together with Bromley Primary Care Trust provide help and advice to residents of the Borough who have a diagnosed learning disability and their carers. Services are planned to help people live as independently as possible in the community.
Bromley Learning Disability Partnership is calling on people with learning disabilities, their carers and health and social care professionals to give their views on health and social care housing service plans over the next 5 years. The draft strategy, Fulfilling Lives-Active Citizens is also available in an easy read version and comments can be emailed to social.care@bromley.gov.uk A series of consultation events in the borough are also being held on the strategy Fulfilling Lives - Active Citizens.
Copies are also available at Bromley Social Services area offices, the Civic Centre, Bassetts Resource Centre, Day centres, libraries, Bromley Mencap, Bromley Autistic Trust, Bexley and Bromley advocacy group

The Joint Learning Disability Service aims to support people with a learning disability to live as independently as possible in the community and to support their family carers as well.
A specialist team of care managers work with individuals to assess the needs of the person with learning disabilities and their carers and arrange appropriate services such as:
Also a specialist team of health providers work to assess and support the specific health needs of clients and help them when they need to use "ordinary" health services.
Costs
There is no charge for advice, information, assessment of need and support.
Clients may however need to pay towards the cost of some services that are arranged. The amount that will need to be paid will depend on individual circumstances.
