Birth Families in Bromley
Who can use the Service
Any birth relative living in the borough of Bromley whose child/children are likely to be or have been adopted. This includes birth parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters. You can access the service even if you have had your child/children adopted several years ago.
What the Service can offer you
- An independent Adoption Development Worker (not a social worker) who can offer you support, information and advice, to whom you could talk to in confidence.
- Birth Family Counselling Service this is a service that can offer you 4 to 5 sessions where you can talk about your fears, feelings and loss.
- Letterbox Contact is when the child’s adoptive family and birth family can send news to each other by letter at agreed times during the year. Sometimes birth families find it very difficult to know what to write to their birth children. The independent worker can support you in writing your letter.
Birthmothers support group
This is a support group for birth mothers who have had their child/children adopted. The group will be held once a month in Bromley. If you want to find out more about the group please phone or text Anna Stokes on 07946 177067.
