Distributing free literature on the street
If you wish to hand out free leaflets or literature in one of our designated areas, you must apply for a licence and pay a daily fee of £25. To apply for a licence, see our leaflet and application form, or contact us directly.
Details
The designated areas are:
- Bromley (High Street, Market Square, White Hart Slip)
- Orpington (High Street)
- Beckenham (High Street)
- Penge (High Street)
- West Wickham (High Street)
You will not need a licence if the content of your literature is political, charitable, religious or for non-commercial gain.
A fixed penalty notice (fine) may be issued to anyone who distributes free literature in a designated area without a licence.
Please note it is illegal to put up signs advertising businesses or events without property owner's consent, and our street cleansing contractor has standing instructions to remove fly-posters. To display signs legally, you will need consent.
