main content Discarded syringes

If you find any needles, syringes or other drug-related items in a park or street, please report it to us. You should not pick up anything you discover unless it poses immediate danger to you or other members of the public.

Details

There are obvious hazards associated with handling needles, syringes and other drug-related items. While we are only liable for items found on public land because waste dumped on private land is the landowner’s responsibility, please contact us for advice.

If waste is found on educational premises, such as schools or nurseries, during working hours, report this immediately to the premises. There will be staff members trained to deal with it.

If you wish to dispose of personal clinical waste, we provide a free clinical waste collection service. Please do not dispose of clinical waste in the weekly household collections.

Further information on tackling drugs and solvents misuse is available here.
