main content Flooding on roads

picture of drainage maintenance

Rain is taken away by road drains that  prevent the road from becoming flooded.  We clean the borough's 35,000 road drains once each year and more often in areas prone to flooding, to ensure water runs away as efficiently as possible.

If you are concerned that a road drain appears to be blocked please contact us.  Please note that we are only responsible for road drainage.

Details

In extreme weather conditions, roads may become flooded.  Please tell us if you have a problem with a flooded road, as we may not be aware of it. We will investigate and take action.

If you are having problems with your own drainage or the drainage on a neighbouring property, further information is available here.

Generally, the Environment Agency are responsible if a river floods.  Thames Water are responsible if a main sewer floods.
