Differential parking penalties
Following the approval of the Mayor and the agreement of the Secretary of State, differential parking penalties will be implemented on 1st July 2007.
The aim behind the differential charges is to make the system fairer by imposing a greater penalty on people who park where parking is not generally permitted (e.g. on a yellow line or school "Keep Clear" marking), and on those who park, for example, in a bay for residents, permit holders or disabled people without displaying the appropriate permit or badge.
The less serious contraventions which incur the lower charge include overstaying your time in a Pay and Display bay, or parked outside bay markings.
