New technology is being used to help with the changes to parking in Orpington. Whilst the traditional 'pay and display' parking still applies in some roads, you can now also pay using your mobile phone within the zone.

Paying for parking using your mobile phone has many benefits, including:
- No need to find coins;
- Helping to avoid parking fines due to lost or badly displayed tickets;
- Helping to avoid parking fines by receiving a text message when your time is due to expire (charges apply);
- Reducing the need for more 'pay and display' machines thereby reducing clutter and the potential for vandalism;
- Parking charges by the minute so no need to guess the predicted length of your stay.
All you need is your mobile phone. Just park your car, make a short call to start your payment and another to end when you leave.

To start using this convenient system, first complete a simple registration process using the Parkmobile website or calling 0870 730 5005. Parkmobile is our electronic parking provider. The process only takes a few minutes and all you need is:
- Your mobile phone number;
- Your car registration number;
- Your bank,debit card or credit card details.
Upon registration, you will be sent a welcome pack containing everything you need to start using the cashless parking system. You will also have access to an online personal page where you can view your parking history, invoices, set up text alerts and receive other useful information.
Once registered you can activate your parking by calling Parkmobile on 0870 730 5005 and inputting the code which appears on signs in the specific street you are parking in. Your parking charges will the be sent as a monthly bill.
Remember to deactivate your parking when you leave. Otherwise you will continue to pay for the parking space.
Membership of the scheme costs £1 per month. The cost of the phone call will vary according to the phone operator.
