Road and pavement resurfacing
We want to keep you informed about the roadworks that the Council is running in the borough.
We have a regular maintenance programme for all roads and pavements in the borough. Typically, we renew 30 miles of roads and pavements a year.
Contact us if you have any queries about the roads and pavements near you.
Details
We carry out technical surveys of the roads and pavements to assess which are in most need of repair, and then develop our programme of work. We ensure residents and businesses directly affected by our work receive written notification in advance, and we also ask for their views once the work is complete.
For a detailed list of our planned maintenance work being carried out in the borough over the next few weeks, visit our contractor's project locator. This also gives information on other areas in London where our contractor is working. Please note that this does not include work carried out by utility companies or by Transport for London (TFL). Our notice, advising of substantial road works in the next three months.
We are not the only organisation working on the roads. The utilities (including Thames Water, British Gas, British Telecom, and Virgin Media) have the right to dig up the road if they need to maintain their pipes, etc. While we aim to coordinate works, this is not always possible, as utilities do not have to give us formal notification in the event of an emergency such as a gas leak.
