Government research indicates that excessive speed is a major factor in road accidents causing many serious and fatal injuries across the Borough. Bromley's Road Safety Officers work with the police in an attempt to reduce speed-related accidents through regular speed checks on targeted roads.

We have electronic speed indicators at various locations throughout Bromley. The mobile speed trailer can also be used daily. Both these measures are moved regularly to different locations so that drivers are less likely to ignore the warning sign that they are travelling over the speed limit. The warning signs do not give speeding tickets - they are advisory only.

All speed checks, visors and the mobile unit are used where statistics show there is a higher than average number of road accidents.
