Voting in elections

People with disabilities

We try to make it as easy as possible for everyone to vote.

Assistance at the polling station

  • Trained staff who are aware of voters who may need assistance, including those with language difficulties, and are available to help.
  • Wheelchair access and low-level polling booths in most of our polling stations
  • Large-print ballot papers, tactile voting devices and magnifiers are available at all polling places.
  • Any person with a disability is permitted to have a companion or to ask the polling station staff to help them complete their ballot paper. A simple form will need to be completed before the ballot paper can be issued.

Alternative ways to vote

If you don't want to go to the polling station to vote, you can vote by post or by proxy.
