Annual Public Health Report 2017 – Type 2 Diabetes
All Directors of Public Health produce an Annual Public Health Report (APHR) to raise the profile of emerging health issues or to highlight an area of particular interest to a wide variety of audiences.
Bromley’s 2017 report is on Type 2 diabetes - one of the most significant public health challenges of our time which is a national and local priority.
Diabetes is a serious health condition that occurs when the amount of sugar in the blood is too high because the body cannot use it properly and it should be considered a serious risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
The APHR report gives an overview of the causes, prevalence and impact of diabetes at a local and national level and includes advice on prevention and the pro-active steps everyone can take to prevent diabetes.
