Civil marriage and partnership venues at Bromley Civic Centre
The Old Palace was built in 1775 for the Bishop of Rochester. Since then the original Georgian building has had several additions including a colonnaded veranda running the length of the south side of the building. The immaculate grounds include a large lawn area with mature trees, shrubs and rose bushes to the rear of the Palace, plus a lake with birds and other wildlife.
From the gravelled courtyard you step into the entrance hallway, which contains a striking wood panelled staircase and is decorated with carvings over the entrance. All overlooking the grounds, there is a suite of rooms, including the main Function Room which seats 40 to 45 guests and the Chairman's Room for smaller ceremonies. After the ceremony parties can go into the grounds via the french windows onto the colonnade.
Photographs can be taken in the gravelled courtyard, on the staircase in the entrance hallway of the Palace, as well as in the two ceremony rooms and the grounds. The interior locations are in areas not usually available to the public.
All bookings will be subject to availability, and we can also discuss with you the additional option of the use of the Old Palace for a drinks reception following your ceremony.

Although the Palace suite of rooms are on the ground floor, it is important to tell us of any mobility problems you or your guests may have as we need to make arrangements for wheelchair access from the courtyard. Also remember that direct access onto the lawn from the Palace is via a grassy bank, which may not be suitable for everyone.
