Permitted development is development which can be carried out without first seeking planning permission from the Local Planning Authority. More information regarding permitted development is available from the Gov.uk website.

Immediate Article 4 Direction in Petts Wood

On 23 February 2021, the London Borough of Bromley made an immediate Article 4 Direction  to remove Part 1, Class AA PD rights (enlargement of a dwellinghouse by construction of additional storeys) in the Petts Wood Area of Special Residential Character.

The council confirmed this Direction on 19 July 2021.

Non-Immediate Article 4 Directions to remove upwards extension PD rights

On 15 March 2021, the London Borough of Bromley made the following 16 non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove various ‘upwards extension’ PD rights granted under Part 1 and Part 20 of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended):

A copy of the Directions and plans of the areas to which they relate can be downloaded.

Representations on the proposed Directions were sought between 15 March 2021 and 26 April 2021. If confirmed following consideration of representations, the Directions will come into effect not before 15 March 2022.

Non-Immediate Article 4 Directions to remove office to residential demolition PD rights

On 11 May 2021, the London Borough of Bromley made the following 18 non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove office to residential demolition PD rights granted under Part 20, Class ZA of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended):

Representations on the proposed Directions were sought between 11 May 2021 and 22 June 2021. If confirmed following consideration of representations, the Directions will come into effect not before 11 May 2022.

Non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove Part 1, Class B and C PD rights

On 19 July 2021, the London Borough of Bromley made two non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove specific PD rights granted under Part 1 of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended):

Representations regarding the Directions can be made by email to: ldf@bromley.gov.uk, or in writing to: Head of Planning Policy and Strategy, London Borough of Bromley, Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley BR1 3UH.

Representations must be received by 30 August 2021.

If confirmed following consideration of representations, the Directions will come into effect not before 19 July 2022.

Non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove office to residential PD rights

On 25 May 2021, the London Borough of Bromley confirmed three  non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove office to residential PD rights granted under Part 3, Class O of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended):

Crayfield Business Park office cluster confirmed

Knoll Rise office cluster confirmed

Mason's Hill office cluster confirmed

The Directions will come into force on 10 July 2021. A copy of the Directions and plans of the areas to which they relate can be viewed via the links or inspected at the Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley BR1 3UH by making a prior appointment by contacting ldf@bromley.gov.uk.

Non- immediate Article 4 Directions to remove Class E to residential PD rights

The London Borough of Bromley have made a number of non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove specific PD rights granted under Part 3, Class MA of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended).

Immediate and non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) PD rights

The London Borough of Bromley have made immediate and non-immediate Article 4 Directions to remove specific PD rights granted under Part 3, Class L of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended), which allow houses to be converted to HMOs.
