Bromley Town Centre - Churchill Quarter
The Churchill Quarter Development is in Phase 1 of Opportunity Site G which is one of the Opportunity Sites in the Bromley Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP).
It encompasses the south west of Bromley High Street and includes the stretch from the Churchill Theatre to Ethelbert Road.
On 8 February 2017 the council selected a preferred development partner, Countryside Properties (UK) Limited, for the first phase of development of Opportunity Site G - Churchill Gardens, which covers the area to the north of the site which includes Ethelbert close, adjacent to the Churchill Theatre and Church House Gardens
The council's Executive has signalled its intention to complete a development agreement with Countryside Properties. Officers are currently finalising the details of the agreement.
Site G Indicative timetable
The timetable for the delivery of Site G is as follows:
- Conditional exchange of development agreement - August 2017
- Submit planning application and prepare compulsory purchase order documentation - March 2018
- Secure planning consent - Summer 2018
- Commencement of compulsory purchase process - Summer 2018
- Compulsory purchase inquiry - Spring 2019
- Commence development - Spring 2020
- Completion - 2023 to 2025

The plans envisage that the site will provide more high quality, mixed used development in the heart of the town centre.
The council remains committed to engaging with residents on the development of this site throughout this process.
It is acknowledged this can be an unsettling time for many residents who are affected by the council's proposals, particularly with reference to the potential use of compulsory purchase powers. To provide some clarity, the council is keen to assist by directing those affected to relevant information available on this subject.
The council is prepared to assist homeowners who are experiencing difficulties in selling their properties and to date has already purchased of a number of properties within the development area.
