Big Bromley Brush Up
Help support our Big Bromley Brush Up! Join us to make Bromley an even cleaner, greener and safer place to live, work and visit.
The Big Bromley Brush Up is a campaign of environmental events and projects across the borough, supported by individual residents and groups, businesses, schools, organisations and many others.
If you love where you live and have an hour or two to spare occasionally, join us and other like-minded volunteers to do something practical and positive, and help clean up your local area.

Organise an event
If you can’t find an event to join in your local area, you could organise your own with neighbours, friends and family. Let us know and we’ll give you all the help and advice you need and assist with the arrangements. We’ll also supply tools and equipment to do the job, and take the rubbish away when you’ve finished.
Where you work is up to you but it could be publicly accessible land or open spaces, such as pavements, alleyways or verges, and also on walls and street furniture (such as guard rails, seats or lamp columns). Or you could tackle private land where the public have access, such as forecourts, pathways to stations, housing association open areas and country footpaths (public rights of way).
What we do
Whether joining an organised event or arranging one of your own, we provide everything you need including equipment like litter pickers, hi-vis waistcoats, gloves, shovels, brooms, refuse sacks, paint and lots more. When you’ve finished your clean-up, Kier, our street cleaning contractor, will remove and dispose of the rubbish safely.
Keeping streets clean
We are committed to keeping the borough’s streets clean and tidy, with our street cleaning teams using a variety of methods and cleaning frequencies to match the individual needs of different types of street. You can learn more about street care and cleaning and if you spot a problem you think we should know about, you can report it to us.
In addition, we may also issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) for certain offences spoiling the environment, such as fly-tipping and dumping rubbish, dropping litter, dog fouling and abandoning vehicles.
Other ways to get involved
You may like to find out more about our work with other volunteers like Street Friends who help us by reporting problems such as graffiti in their street, or Friends of Parks who care for local parks and green spaces, Tree Friends who support our work maintaining the borough's 36,000 street trees or Snow Friends who help clear snow and ice in the winter.
