Finding a reliable trader
Whether you're making home improvements or getting your garden ready for the next season, choosing a local trader you can rely on can be a daunting prospect. Bromley Council Trading Standards advise that you should never deal with uninvited doorstep traders and in the past joined forces with Checkatrade to help residents find reputable traders in their area.
The partnership with Checkatrade came to an end in March 2020, though traders approved before this date will continue to have valid approval for up to a further 12 months.
At the moment Bromley Council Trading Standards do not provide an approved trader scheme, but other approval schemes are available. These include:
- TrustMark which is the government Endorsed Quality Scheme
- Buy with confidence
- Which? Trusted Traders
Neighbouring councils provide approval schemes, including the London Borough of Bexley What Tradesman Scheme, the Kent County Council Trading Standards Checked’ scheme and the Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards Traders 4 U partnership scheme.
