London responsible knife retailer agreement
Retailers selling knives in Bromley are being encouraged to sign up to a voluntary responsible retailer agreement. This replaces the Blade Safe scheme previously operated by the Trading Standards team.
Bromley Trading Standards are working with London Trading Standards, which represents 33 local authorities in London, the Deputy Mayor of London and the Metropolitan Police to promote the responsible retailer agreement on knife sales amongst shops in the borough.
The responsible retailer agreement urges businesses and staff to commit to:
- the safe storage and display of knives
- following the ASSESS-CHALLENGE-CHECK process when selling these age-restricted goods.
Signing up to the responsible retailer agreement is free of charge. Bromley Trading Standards encourage traders to sign up to the agreement to help protect themselves against falling foul of the law and to help with the prevention of knife related crime.
For further information or to sign up to the agreement, please email Bromley Trading Standards.
