Holiday activities and food programme

Holiday, activities, and food programme – Winter 2021

Our holiday, activities and food (HAF) programme provides free holiday club places, including activities and healthy meals outside of term time, for families with children and young people from 5-16 years old. The programme is funded by the Department for Education.

Our summer provision was a great success, and we are excited to update you on our Winter HAF Programme. We have 14 experienced providers offering a variety of activities, covering all ages of children and locations across the borough over the festive holidays.

The programme is aimed at children who are in receipt of benefit related free school meals. They can enjoy fun activities that will enable them to develop new skills, build confidence and meet new friends. Each provision will allow your child to take part in creative and physical activities, learn about food, cooking, and the nutritional aspect of the food they eat whilst enjoying a free nutritious meal each day.

Parent/carers are invited to book on to the free spaces available, using the programme schedule presented below. Please note that all bookings are done directly through our providers so please use their contact details below if you have any booking related queries.

Non-attendance could result in another child missing out on taking part in the activities. Please ensure that you are committed to having your child or young person attend your requested date/time before you book.

Additional information

The holiday, activities and food programme aims to provide free activities and nutritious meals for children eligible for benefits related free school meals. For children with complex, medical or SEN needs please see further details about short breaks which provides holiday provision that can safely provide for this cohort of children.

In addition to this programme, families who are eligible for Universal Credit may be able to claim back up to 85 per cent of their childcare costs. Please read the Universal Credit and childcare guidance on the GOV.UK website to find out more.

There is also an opportunity for children that are not eligible for benefit related free school meals to pay to attend.

If you have any queries about the programme that aren’t related to booking, please email

The aims of the HAF camps are to provide a safe space for Bromley children and young people where we can promote education on maintaining good mental health whilst reducing boredom and addressing ‘holiday hunger’. We have a host of outstanding and inspirational coaches, experts by experience and artists coming to work with the children and young people, providing early intervention work on anti-bullying, racism, crime prevention, gang culture, awareness of drugs and addiction and running county lines. A truly innovative approach combining fun, fitness, food and real-life education.
