There are 45 conservation areas in Bromley. The council has designed each one because of its special architectural or historic interest. Designation aims to protect an areas character and appearance by managing change in a sympathetic way. This is done through town planning legislation and the Local Plan (Policies 41,42 and 43).
There are some additional planning controls in conservation areas and trees are given protection. Supplementary Planning Guidance notes have been prepared for most of our conservation areas to assist residents and developers. Find out more about making a planning application.
