Clean Energy Cashback (Feed in tariffs)

The Clean Energy Cashback (also known as Feed In Tariffs) scheme provides financial incentives for people and businesses to install electricity-generating technologies such as solar electricity panels and wind turbines. It does this by guaranteeing a minimum payment for the electricity generated as well as the electricity exported to the grid.

There is support for the following technologies:

  • wind turbines
  • solar photovoltaic (PV) (electric)
  • hydroelectricity
  • anaerobic digestion
  • non-renewable micro-CHP (initially a pilot for up to 30,000 units)

Off-grid generators and installations on new-build are also be eligible for the Clean Energy Cashback.

The tariff levels vary on the type and scale of the installations. Further tariff details can be found on the Energy Saving Trust website.

Before you will be able to benefit from the feed in tariffs you will need to ensure that you have undertaken all of the energy efficiency measures that would be appropriate to your home. You will then need to decide on which technology you would like to install.

To benefit from the feed in tariff, you must ensure that the product and the installer that you select are registered with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
