Residents can now look for accredited local traders through a new and secure trader approval scheme – Bromley Trading Standards Checked.
The scheme is a fair trader directory designed to help residents find safe and trustworthy traders, effectively reducing the threat of being taken advantage of by rogue traders. The new scheme supports legitimate Bromley businesses with accreditation across a number of criteria, garnering the trust of residents.
Bromley trading standards is inviting even more traders to come forward to seek accreditation so they can demonstrate that they have residents’ best interests at heart. Once businesses apply to Trading Standards Checked, the trading standards team will run a series of checks to ensure they are suitable for accreditation, helping them to standing out from other businesses in their sector.
The Bromley Trading Standards Checked recruitment phase entails a thorough vetting process. Traders’ integrity and reputation are checked on several criteria, including complaint history, credit checks, and Public Liability Insurance. Restricted and confidential information on each trader is also reviewed.
Councillor Angela Page, Executive Councillor for Public Protection and Enforcement, said: “Bromley Council understands that residents want to feel comfortable when inviting a trader into their home. This is why our Trading Standards Checked programme carries out rigorous vetting and safety checks so residents can be confident when dealing with traders in the scheme.”
The council’s trader approval scheme accepts only the best and most professional local businesses with traders that are highly trained, experienced, and equipped with a broad range of skills. In turn, Trading Standards Checked provides businesses with the support and resources required to meet the needs of the borough’s residents.
