Seven parks have been awarded with Green Flag status, the quality accreditation mark.

The Green Flag Awards are testament to the ongoing partnership work of Friends of Parks groups with idverde and the council, with Friends of Parks groups being thanked for their hard work and dedication.

The seven Bromley parks include, Biggin Hill Recreation Ground, Chislehurst Recreation Ground, Darrick & Newstead Woods, Hayes Common, Keston Common, Queens Gardens and South Hill Wood, with Green Flags proudly flying at these locations.

Councillor Aisha Cuthbert, Executive Councillor for Sustainability, Green Services and Open Spaces said, “I want to pay tribute though to our magnificent Friends of Parks groups and at these seven parks in particular, who have tirelessly worked alongside idverde, our parks management contractor, for the good of us all.  On behalf of us all, thank you.  We are blessed with over 160 parks and open spaces of all shapes and sizes right across our borough and the work which goes into maintaining these special places is substantial and we will keep working with all concerned to both maintain and improve our parks as best we can.”

Councillor Cuthbert continued, “It was also good news that Chislehurst Commons received their Green Flag accreditation again and our congratulations to all concerned.”
