Residents, visitors, and other interested parties are being encouraged to respond to a survey about proposals to improve recreational facilities in Coney Hall Recreation Ground (Park.)

The project is being led by the Friends of Coney Hall Park, in partnership with Bromley Council, and its parks management contractor, idverde.

The consultation presents proposals for two areas within this site and asks for public support. The first area is the revitalisation of two existing un-used tennis courts, into a safe space for children to learn-to-ride. It is proposed that the area will be re-surfaced, with markings to mimic a road layout. It is also proposed that three concrete table tennis tables are installed. A new path will provide easy access.

The second area for improvement is located further within the park and includes the extension of an area of hardstanding next to the pavilion, to include a partially-fenced Multi-Games-Area for football, netball and basketball to be played.

The project design has been developed based on previous consultation and the information collected from the current consultation will further shape the final design. Grant funding will be sought to cover the estimated costs, with the final plans being subject to a formal tendering process.

Alison Regester, Chair of the Friends of Coney Hall Park said: “We care passionately about this site; it is an important part of the local community. We are keen to develop facilities further, building on previous improvements we have made. Please take time to look at and respond to our proposals. Your responses will help to shape the park for the future. New members and volunteers are always welcome so please let us know if you would like to join our group.”

Councillor Aisha Cuthbert, Executive Councillor for Environment said, “A big thank you to Friends of Coney Hall Park for what you are doing. Your work and support is massively appreciated, as is the work of the ever popular network of Friends groups right across the Borough. Together, we can and are making a difference in our Borough.”

The Friends have applied to Bromley’s Platinum Jubilee Parks Fund for match-funding towards the project. They have also secured some funding through their own local fundraising efforts including a fundraising ball and other events.

Anyone interested in having their say can complete the survey, closing date Tuesday 20 December 2022.
