The following open letter is the lead article in Bromley Council’s Update e-newsletter.

Dear Resident,

Good Heavens, it’s Easter already! Where has that time since Christmas gone.

As you can see from our latest newsletter things have been, and remain, extremely busy behind the scenes and I very much hope that you find its contents of interest.

I was particularly pleased to see that after more years than I care to remember finishing up as one of the bridesmaids, that we finally managed to top the London-wide list for recycling. The new challenge now changes to trying to stay there!

As I finalise this message late on Thursday afternoon, we are still awaiting word as to the High Court’s decision regarding whether they will accept Bromley (Bexley, Harrow, Hillingdon and Surrey) Councils’ application for a Judicial Review to be held over the Mayor for London’s ULEZ proposal. We see ULEZ as a clear and present danger to jobs, businesses and vital care-networks of vulnerable people locally and we will issue further updates on this through the council’s social media outlets as soon as that news comes to hand.

For now though, as we slowly move into the long Easter weekend, with our fingers firmly crossed for decent weather, all there is left to do is to wish each and every one of you a very happy and enjoyable Easter break.

Kind regards and best wishes,

Councillor Colin P. Smith

Leader of Bromley Council
