Residents are being invited to nominate their best decorated shop in a competition looking for the shop that best captures the Coronation spirit with their eye-catching window displays.

Submissions are now open and businesses across the borough are reminded to get their shop front displays in place well ahead of the Coronation, so that residents can send in their photo nominations by Tuesday 2 May at 5pm. Residents interested in nominating a shop should ask the shop owner and take a photo of their display and submit it online at www.bromley.gov.uk/Coronation.

The Mayor of Bromley will be judging the displays and will announce the winner to kick off the Coronation Bank Holiday celebrations taking place from 6 May to 8 May. The winning shop will receive a £100 gift voucher generously donated by The Glades. Budding photographers are also encouraged to get creative, as the council will be awarding a £50 voucher to the best photograph submitted by a member of the public.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “I hope businesses will take this opportunity to contribute to the festive spirit in the borough and we will see many colourful and creative displays across all our parades and high streets. I would encourage residents to reward these efforts by nominating your favourite regal shop fronts – which may just land you with a chance to be celebrated as a photographer! This is just the latest of our Coronation plans to help build up enthusiasm locally and celebrate this historic occasion."

To further ensure the borough is well decorated for the Coronation, the borough’s high streets have also been allocated £20,000 to support Coronation decorations, which is being organised by the borough’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).
