St Hugh's Playing Fields decision not ratified
Published Thursday, 25 January 2018
The decision to approve a planning application submitted by Kier Construction was not ratified at tonight’s Development Control Committee.
Councillor Peter Fortune, Executive Councillor for Education, Children and Families said, “As a result of the decision reached this evening regarding Bullers Wood Boys School please be assured that the local Authority is still ready to meet the demand for secondary school places in the Borough. Admissions officers stand ready to accept calls to reassure parents that a place will be available for their son. Bromley has exceptionally high achieving schools and we are sure that all children will have the very best experience during their secondary education.”
Councillor Peter Dean, Chairman of Development Control Committee said, “This was an immensely difficult decision. The committee accepted the concerns identified in Inspector’s report about the road safety and traffic concerns and in these circumstances, decided to refuse the application.”
The Development Control Committee decision to approve Kier Construction’s 2nd planning application was subject to the completion of a legal agreement. The legal agreement had not been completed when the outcome of the appeal became known and therefore the new material planning considerations were considered by the Development Control Committee prior to the legal agreement moving to completion.
1. The Planning Inspector’s appeal decision is published on the Planning Inspectorate’s website
2. The appeal followed a rejection of the planning application last year, with a 2nd application on the same site being accepted in October, with the information provided taken into account in the Planning Inspector’s decision.
