Bromley continues outstanding track record for Primary School Places
Published Thursday, 16 April 2020
Bromley’s 2020 primary school place offers continue to impress.
More than 98 per cent of children in the borough starting their formal education later this year at a primary school named on their application. This is ahead of the London average which stands at 97 per cent.
That figure includes 3,347 families who were offered their first preference, taking the percentage of first-choice placements to more than 85 per cent. Over the first three preferences, Bromley achieved an impressive 96.5 per cent, more than a percentage point above the London average.
Cllr Fortune Bromley Council’s Executive Member for Children, Education, and Families said: “Despite the additional challenges brought about by Covid-19, we have been able to safely ensure that as many children as possible secured one of their preferred primary schools and I am pleased to see so many families get a favourable offer today.
“We are rightly very proud of our schools and the achievements of our young people and I know that, this year in particular, children and parents alike will be even more excited by the prospect of starting their journey into education at a school of their choice later this year. My sincere thanks go out to all our highly dedicated teaching staff and education providers for all their work at this extremely difficult time.”
Demand for places is still high, growing to 3906 on-time applications in 2020 from 3884 last year. Bromley Council continues to work with a range of schools, parents and prospective parents to help ensure there are sufficient places to meet demand and provide a choice of good schools.
Parents who applied online will receive an email on Thursday, 16 April confirming which school they have been offered with the timing varying according to individual email service providers. Parents can log into their eAdmissions account to view the offer online and offered places should be accepted by Thursday, 30 April.
