COVID-19 business grant enquiries still welcome

A temporary business assistance helpline opened to provide advice to businesses applying for government grants is being discontinued now most businesses have been paid their grant.

Whilst in excess of £40 million has been paid to over 2700 businesses, eligible businesses that may still be eligible for the grant monies are being strongly encouraged to come forwards.  

Councillor Graham Arthur, Executive Councillor for Resources said, “It has been an immense effort to respond to and pay all those eligible businesses who have come forward and I would like to thank them for their support and understanding as we processed the large number of enquiries we inevitably received virtually at once.  We would like to be able to pay out even more money to businesses who may not yet have come forwards and whilst we are trying to make direct with them, please get in touch if you are a business who has not yet made contact with us and is eligible.”

Businesses that may still be eligible are being proactively contacted in a variety of ways by the council in a bid to encourage further grant applications. 

Businesses with enquiries can still contact the council via the existing channels, with the business assistance number now giving a recorded message.  Businesses can visit
