Garden Waste sites extended opening on Saturdays for two sites in June

Published Thursday, 4 June 2020

Temporary green garden waste sites will be open in Bromley and Green Street Green on Saturdays in June.

Along with being able to purchase green garden waste stickers online, the news is all part of the plan to help ease the pressure on demand during the phased reopening of the borough's two household waste and recycling centres at Churchfields Road and Waldo Road.  Additional appointment booking slots have also been created to help meet the continued demand at the Churchfields Road and Waldo Road sites to help support residents, with a booking appointment form available.

"We are keeping both Norman Park and Shire Lane locations open on Saturdays in June to support residents at this time, with the Shire Lane staying open for garden waste on Saturdays until the autumn.  Recognising that sometimes residents want to dispose of garden waste on an occasional basis, with the libraries currently closed, residents can now purchase garden waste stickers " said Councillor William Huntington-Thresher, Executive Councillor for Environment and Community Services.

Councillor Huntington-Thresher continued, “We know that more of us are getting all sorts of home deliveries currently and our ever popular garden waste collection service is one of our equivalent services, with this in full operation now. Residents can subscribe to this service, with regular collections from your home throughout the gardening season in return for a £60 annual subscription.  We are also introducing more appointment availability at our Churchfields and Waldo Road which will also help.  I also want to thank residents for their ongoing support, patience and messages of goodwill which are very much appreciated."

At both the open green garden waste sites, to support social distancing and make the service as efficient as possible, residents are being advised that staff will remove the garden waste from their car whilst the resident stays in their vehicle.  Residents will need to bring their waste permit with them to confirm they are a resident in the borough.

The following locations are open on Saturdays each weekend from 11 am to 4 pm at the following locations:

  • Bromley: Norman Park, Hook Farm Road (off A21 Bromley Common)
  • Green St Green: Salt Depot, Shire Lane Spur (off Sevenoaks Road)
