Civic Centre reception re-opens by appointment

Published Monday, 29 June 2020

Main reception at Bromley Council’s Civic Centre has resumed serving residents face-to-face by appointment from Monday 29 June.

Safety and distancing measures in line with government guidance have been put in place to enable the reception to re-open to the public.

For residents facing emergencies or challenges that can only be resolved in person, appointments can be booked through the Contact Centre helpline: 0208 464 3333. Residents using the council’s appointment only system for when they need to visit the Civic Centre, are encouraged to attend alone where possible to help with the efforts in maintaining social distancing.

Signage and floor markings have been installed to help maintain social distancing with a one-way system for entry and exit in place. Outside queueing where necessary will be implemented to make the environment as safe as possible, with marshalls on hand to guide residents as required.

From Monday 29 June the opening times, by appointment only for the main reception will be:

· Monday-Friday 10:30am - 4pm by appointment and emergency only.

· To allow for sanitisation and cleaning the reception will be closed from 1pm to 2pm every day

Councillor Graham Arthur, Executive Member for Resources, Commissioning and Contract Management said: “It’s pleasing to see that we have been able to find many new ways to offer services and support under such disruptive circumstances and that residents have used our website, in particular, as a very convenient way to engage with us. This remains one of the best ways to find information, report issues and pay and apply for services.

“For those unable to access the internet or who require a more personalised service, we are glad to be able to take this first step back to a more normal face-to-face service, but we do urge everybody to remain vigilant and abide by the safety measures that are still in place.

“My thanks go to residents for their understanding and flexibility during this time and to our Customer Services team who continued serving residents remotely throughout.”

Other receptions at the Civic Centre will remain closed until further notice, along with the Great Hall and the restaurant.
