Open space strategy consultation

The public, including residents, stakeholders and other interested parties are invited to express their views regarding how open spaces are owned and managed via a consultation open until 7 January
The aim of the Open Space Strategy is to set out priorities and allocate resources across council owned and managed Open Spaces in future years, while at the same time conserving and enhancing them. The aim is to also maximise community benefit and how this may be improved, for instance.
“We know how important green spaces are and continue to be to everyone, particularly in these challenging times. We want as many views as possible on the Open Space strategy which is not just about how we operate and manage our parks and open spaces during the Covid-19 pandemic, but how we plan for the future. Even if you don’t use these facilities directly, anyone who has any thoughts or views should respond to our consultation at www.bromley.gov.uk/consultation” said Councillor William Huntington-Thresher, Executive Councillor for Environment.
Councillor William Huntington-Thresher added “Volunteers are an important part of parks and open spaces and many parks and green spaces have Friends Groups in addition. They provide a valuable contribution to our green environment and leisure provision for all residents to enjoy and we are very grateful to them. If there is anything hindering you getting involved in helping out in the conversation and enhancement of our green environment please include that in your responses.
The Open Space strategy also includes allotments and amenities within parks for example such as buildings, cafe's, childcare clubs, exercise equipment, lighting, play areas and equipment, seating, sports clubs and facilities etc. Additionally included are Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), plus bridleways, paths, Rights of Way and cemeteries and the like.
