Preferred school places outcomes confirms Bromley top performance

Figures just released show that, once again, the vast majority of school children in Bromley will be going to the secondary school of their choice.
Bromley remains one of the top performers in London with statistics showing that pupils 1st preference success rate is above all neighbouring boroughs and the London average.
90% of Bromley’s school children will be attending one of their top four choices of school, with 69% offered their first preference. This compares with the London average of 63% meaning Bromley remains one of the six top performing boroughs in London.
Councillor Peter Fortune, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Children and Families said, “As another cohort of children get ready to move to a new school, I am really pleased so many are going to a school of their choice. We continue to perform highly in this despite increasing numbers of children.”
Locally, Bromley’s performance of 69% of school children receiving their first choice school is greater than all neighbouring boroughs, including Croydon (60%), Greenwich (60%), Lewisham (62%), Lambeth (61%) and Southwark (65%), with the percentage of first choice preferences shown in brackets.
In further good news, a new secondary school is approved by the government to open in North-West Bromley, which will further increase the choice and availability of places for residents in the future.
