The following notice has been issued by the retailer:
2 and 3 Section Aluminium Loft Ladders
B&Q has identified a potential safety issue with the Aluminium 3 Section Loft Ladder (barcode 1044294) and Aluminium 2 Section Loft Ladder (barcode 1044287) offered for sale from August 2011 onwards.
PLEASE NOTE ONLY THE PRODUCTS LISTED ARE AT RISK. ALL OTHER LOFT LADDERS SOLD BY B&Q ARE UNAFFECTED.
Despite rigorous quality control procedures, it has been brought to our attention that there has been a component failure during use in a small number of these aluminium loft ladders which makes them unsafe for use.
If you have purchased one or more of these products during or sincer August 2011 PLEASE STOP USING THEM IMMEDIATELY and return them to your local B&Q store where a full refund will be given.
