The following notice has been issued by the retailer:
IKEA SMILA wall mounted lamps can present a strangulation hazard to children
IKEA urges all customers that have an IKEA SMILA wall mounted lamp or any other corded wall mounted lamp to check immediately that the lamp and cord are out of arm’s reach of their child in a cot or playpen and that the cord is securely fastened to the wall. Lamp cords can present a strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers if placed too close to a cot or playpen.
Please contact customer services in store or on 0203 645 0010 or email Qualityteam@ikea.com to receive a cord warning label about the strangulation risk. IKEA reminds customers that any corded product such as a window covering or blind can present a strangulation hazard. Accessible cords should always be kept out of reach of young children.
