2015.04.30 Recall: McVitie's Sweeet Friends Promotional Characters

MCVITIE'S SWEEETTM FRIENDS PROMOTIONAL CHARACTER RECALL NOTICE

McVitie's is recalling its four SweeetTM Friends promotional characters

  • The kitten
  • The puppy
  • The owl
  • The tarsier

THE RECALL ONLY AFFECTS THE PROMOTIONAL CHARACTERS LISTED ABOVE. IT DOES NOT IMPACT ANY MCVITIE'S BISCUIT PRODUCTS.

As a precautionary measure United Biscuits is conducting a voluntary recall of all the McVitie's SweeetTM Friends characters that have been distributed to date as part of an ongoing pack promotion. This is due to two reports from consumers where an eye of a character became detached, which may pose a potential choking risk to children - to date there have not been any reports of injury.

United Biscuits takes its responsibility and the safety of consumers extremely seriously, and is acting out of extreme caution to do all it can to remove the SweeetTM Friends characters from circulation and recall the characters immediately whilst the fault is resolved.

Consumers who have received a SweeetTM Friend character are being asked to return it as soon as is possible. United Biscuits will ensure that their promotional partner will make direct contact to retrieve the characters from those consumers whose details they hold. United Biscuits realise that in a small number of cases they may not have the consumers' details, in which case the consumer is asked to call 0500 011 710 (UK) or 1 800 409317 (ROI) FREEPHONE between the hours of 9am-5pm, contact ubconsumerservices@unitedbiscuits.com or visit www.mcvities.co.uk . They will be supplied with a prepaid envelope to return the character.

Once the returned McVitie's SweeetTM Friend character has been received, a £5 (UK only) / €7 (ROI) voucher (redeemable against United Biscuits products) will be offered as a gesture of goodwill whilst United Biscuits works to provide a redesigned SweeetTM Friend character to each winner.
