Campsie Glen Smokehouse Ltd is recalling their Vacuum Packed Smoked Salmon, Smoked Trout and Smoked Halibut with the Use by dates 6/4/16, 11/4/16, 13/4/16, 27/4/16 and with Batch numbers 2063, 2064, 2065, 2066, 2067, 2069, 2070, 2071.
The effectiveness of process controls that could potentially affect the safety of vacuum packed smoked fish produced by Campsie Glen Smokehouse, cannot be demonstrated satisfactorily. The issue relates to controlling factors to prevent the growth and toxin production of Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin may cause a serious form of food poisoning called botulism. Although no trace of the toxin has been found in products tested, a recall from customers is being carried out as a precautionary measure.
