Hazard
The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the earthing terminal is not adequately locked against accidental loosening; the earth connection had not been made between bare metal; the resistance of the earth path exceeded the limit; and there was access to live parts when the jack is raised to close the heated plates. The product also possessed a counterfeit plug which was too small and the fuse did not contain any granular filler. The supply cord was also noncompliant due to the cable's cross-sectional area being less than the minimum permissible.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border. The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon).
