War memorials play a key focal point within the local community and we recognise our responsibilities to maintain and enhance, as appropriate, these memorials for the benefit of the residents of the borough.

We maintain eighteen memorials. Twelve are on council-owned public land, four are in `closed` churchyards, the Royal British Legion Memorial is within a council cemetery and one is on a private housing estate.

We also maintain a comprehensive list, together with photographs, of all non-Bromley maintained war memorials. The inventory can be seen at the Bromley Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, or at the Local Studies Sections of the Bromley Central Library, Beckenham Library and Orpington Library.
