The Mayoral charities for 2022-23

Each year the Mayor selects two charities to support during their time in office, both by promoting them and by raising funds. In 2022-23, The Mayor of Bromley Cllr Hannah Gray has chosen Everybreath – The Lung Cancer Charity and the Bromley Care Leavers Come Dine With Us project. You can donate to these causes at

Everybreath – The Lung Cancer Charity

Everybreath is a Bromley based organisation led by patients, survivors, partners, family, friends and carers who have experienced the trauma of lung cancer. Founded in 2019 the group meets monthly.

The primary aim of the group is to provide a relaxed and friendly environment for the provision of both emotional and practical support and guidance to anyone affected by lung cancer.

As well as a forum for meeting others, sharing experiences and developing coping strategies, Everybreath provides access to additional specialist medical and support services. We also organise social events for families and invite experts to speak on a range of related topics.

Everybreath is committed to raising awareness of lung cancer and challenging preconceptions about lung cancer and smoking that can hamper early diagnosis. We continue to work with local GPs, clinical staff at local hospital trusts, as well as other established groups, organisations and charities to improve early diagnosis and lend our support for the campaign for a National Screening program. We are delighted to be chosen as the Mayors Charity for 2022 - 2023.

Bromley Care Leavers Come Dine with Us Project

As corporate parents we have a duty to ensure that our children looked after make a successful transition into independent living. We acknowledge that whilst some of our young adults manage this transition well, others continue to benefit from our support until their 25th birthday. One of the main areas that our care leavers have expressed difficulty in is loneliness and isolation once living independently as well as concerns around financial wellbeing and healthy living. As a result we’ve created a project called Come Dine with Us which is held in Our House at the Civic Centre. This project supports our care leavers to come together, cook and share a meal with a variety of health professionals to support them. We are in the early stages of delivering the project, currently it is for those aged 17-25 and will be held on a monthly rotation offering sessions in the weekday, evenings and weekends. We will be developing the project to create a recipe book and we hope to also provide those that attend with a kitchen resources pack, to support them to make healthy meals at home.

The money fundraised will only be used for project resources, such as the cooking ingredients and the kitchen pack items.
