Figures from this year’s National Secondary Offer Day reveal that the majority of Bromley school children once again received offers from their preferred schools.

90 per cent of Bromley’s school children will be attending one of their top four choices of school, with 68 per cent offered their first preference.  The statistics also outline that the increased need for school places mean the total places offered is the highest for at least eight years and an increase of 150 places, equivalent to five forms, compared to 2020 total offers.

Councillor Kate Lymer, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Children and Families said, “Starting secondary school is a big step for parents and children and I am pleased that once again most of Bromley’s children will be attending a school of their preference.  This achievement is even greater given the additional numbers of Bromley children seeking school places.”

Councillor Lymer added, “We recognise that a small minority of parents and children will be disappointed and I would remind those who perhaps received a school offer they did not name, that National Offer Day is only the first stage in the offer process.  I would encourage families to look seek out the next steps guide available on the Bromley Council website which does give advice and explains what families can do next, to help secure their preferred schools.”

The statistics also show that across London, 94 per cent of pupils received an offer of a place at one of their preferences, with Bromley in line with this, where 93.48 per cent of pupils also received an offer at one of their preferences.
